apprenticeship

Moulder EFZ - permanent moulds

Moulding is a very modern and technically versatile profession. You prepare the technically advanced die casting moulds for production and set up the modern and automated casting cells for the sample and series process. Your tasks also include installing the programmes for the machines and systems, starting up the casting cell and checking the quality of the components. You will also use your expertise to further develop casting technologies, carry out development tests and optimise the processes of the machines and systems. In die casting, we mainly process aluminium and magnesium alloys, which is why you will also learn about the metallurgical properties of these materials. As a die caster, you will also familiarise yourself with the processes of work preparation, preparation of production orders and production data acquisition for orders. Compliance with occupational health and safety and the implementation of standards and customer requirements are also part of your area of responsibility.

Job title after training

Moulder with federal certificate of proficiency

Duration of apprenticeship

3 years

Apprenticeship at Aluwag AG

We use the metallic material aluminium. You will process the aluminium using die-casting machines with a casting force of between 400 and 2,200 tonnes. The liquid melt is pressed at high speed into a steel mould, where it solidifies. Our steel moulds are permanent moulds that can be reused. This means that new moulds do not have to be made for the same castings every time.

In addition to the apprenticeship at Aluwag AG

You will start your apprenticeship with a one-week introductory course at Bühler AG in Uzwil. The second part of the introductory course will be completed at Bühler AG one month after the start of the apprenticeship. During these two introductory courses, you will familiarise yourself with the various casting processes and receive instruction in first aid and occupational safety. You will also complete a Suva-recognised sickness course. In addition to the training at Aluwag AG, you will complete two internships (approx. 20 days each) in other foundries and in internal toolmaking. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with other casting processes and other foundries. This will also give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with new and different work steps and views.
