Duration of apprenticeship

Training at Aluwag AG
We use the metallic material aluminium. You will process the aluminium using die-casting machines with a slotting force of between 400 and 2,200 tonnes. The liquid melt is pressed at high speed into a steel mould, where it solidifies. Our steel moulds are permanent moulds that can be reused. This means that new moulds do not have to be made for the same castings every time.
In addition to the apprenticeship at Aluwag AG
You will start your apprenticeship with a one-week introductory course at Bühler AG in Uzwil. The second part of the introductory course will be completed at Bühler AG one month after the start of the apprenticeship. During these two introductory courses, you will familiarise yourself with the various casting processes and receive instruction in first aid and occupational safety. You will also complete a Suva-recognised sickness course. In addition to the training at Aluwag AG, you will complete two internships (approx. 20 days each) in other foundries. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with other casting processes and other foundries. This will also give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with new and different work steps and views.
